M.O.H.N.S.T.A.R.Z is a photo triptych that questions concepts such as self-reflexivity, the scopophilic eye, specularity, identity building and self-mythologization through photography.

Mohamed-El-Haddi poses for the entire project by focusing on the imagery of the monster (from the Latin monstro, monstrare; “To show”) as well as the overwhelming desire to be seen, admired, envied and coveted, in some way.

As part of the M.O.H.N.S.T.A.R.Z project, MOHNSIEUR intends to capture ironic freeze-frames of power, control, poise and knowledge gone awry through socially motivated references to culturally accepted behavioural codes around authority, engendered by an ever-expanding world of individualistic, greedy and profit-making society on the perpetual verge of collapsing and vanishing for good.
